- To manage solar irradiation during peak hours (between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM), a system of motorized external brise-soleil (sun screens)was integrated into the facade. These elements, made of aluminum with a finish matching the facade’s stonework, feature adjustable slats and can be fully retracted into a technical recess, disappearing when not in use. Their geometry was optimized through solar simulations to maximize the shade projected onto the glazing.
- To achieve the cleanest possible view, the fixed glazing (exceeding six meters in height and width) was engineered using thermal break aluminum profileswith a minimal face-width. The frames were almost completely recessed into the floor and ceiling structures, making the glass the dominant element and maximizing the “all-glass” effect.

- The most innovative solution involved inserting an ultra-thin, laser-cut metallic panelinside the glazing unit’s air gap. This panel, featuring a stylized Arabic geometric pattern, acts as both a visual and solar filter. Being hermetically sealed within the double-glazing unit, it is immune to dust and weather.
- The metallic panel, thanks to its reflective finish and position inside the glass unit, ensures a strong daytime privacy effect. From the exterior, the surface appears as a semi-reflective screen, while from the interior, the pattern filters light decoratively without significantly compromising the view.
- In some minor openings, to allow for selective ventilation, motorized vertical sash windows were adopted. The glass lowers into a cavity below the wall, leaving the upper section open. This solution was crucial for safety and practicality, especially in windows facing internal courtyards.
Outcome
